Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas presents her new Lithuanian brochure at the Balzekas Museum

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas will host an event on Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, 6500 S. Pulaski Rd, Chicago, Illinois.

Pappas, accompanied by Joseph A. Katauskas, Jr, president of the board of the Blazekas museum will unveil her office's new brochure in Lithuanian available at cookcountytreasurer.com.

"The 27 new multi-lingual informational brochures assist homeowners to better understand the complex property tax system," Pappas said.

Pappas named President Katauskas Jr as her Honorary Cook County Deputy Treasurer to act as a liaison between her office and the Lithuanian-American community.

"What a great honor!" Katauskas said. "It's nice that Treasurer Pappas is acknowledging Lithuanian Americans and their customs and traditions".

Treasurer's Office employees with laptops will help homeowners to:

  • Apply for $46 million in missing senior citizen property tax exemptions
  • Search for $76 million in available refunds
  • Learn what to do if their property taxes are delinquent
