Cook County Treasurer Pappas presents new informational brochure in Romanian with community leaders
Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas will host an event for the Romanian community at 1p.m. on Friday, June 3, in the Treasurer's office at 118 North Clark Street, Room 212, Chicago.
Pappas and Steven Bonica, a marketing and public relations professional and publisher of the Romanian Tribune Newspaper, will unveil her office's new brochure in Romanian available at cookcountytreasurer.com. Joining Pappas will be Trifan Tiberiu, consul general of Romania in Chicago.
"The 27 new multi-lingual informational brochures in Romanian and other languages assist homeowners to better understand the complex property tax system," Pappas said.
Pappas named Bonica her Honorary Cook County Deputy Treasurer to act as a liaison between her office and the Romanian community.
"Over the past 20 years I've been working with Treasurer Pappas and assisted her numerous times as she diligently reached out in our community, keeping us informed on policy changes and most sought-after information on refunds or overpayments." Bonica said. "Her efforts to have most important information translated in Romanian, among several other languages, is commendable and greatly appreciated by our community."
